Transcript: [Mark Whitehead, Star Technology] So, youll see datacenters that have got half of the space available just empty because they maxed out on their power usage.
[Jessica Carroll, USGA] Well, I think, especially in to-todays environment economically, the challenge is how do you continue to provide great technology tools and still stay within a budget thats reasonable?
[Bob Williams, Cobb EMC] The biggest challenge is just meeting the service level requirements that we need with the limited staff and budget.
[Jos Verschuuren, Atos Origin] For one of our customers monitoring is so important because when one of those business services is down for one hour, it costs them one million dollars.
[Leon Vitor, Banco Mercantil] In 2004 we began with the consolidation and we had 700 servers, and now we have 250.
[Heike Easton, HUK-COBURG] We built a new datacenter and we did it in such a way where it would be according with nature and with the tools we have today, use less power, be more efficient.
[Jack Roberts, Consert, Inc] By the use of smart instrumentation within inside the house and the connections that we have all the way back to our head end and the-the smart algorithms that we have, were able to help a consumer choose their energy management choices to use those in a way that saves the planet, energy and fossil fuel and carbon dioxide.
[Rekha Garapati, IBM] If you think about the extra computer power, it could be used, for example, for farmers to get crop reports that can help them with their loans, for fishermen to get weather reports and fishing reports that will tell them where the best catches were. So this has a direct impact on our planet being smarter because everything is instrumented and, therefore, you get more intelligence coming to everybody.
