  • This video leaves a novice with the impression that unless he has a 32-bit file, then there's no way to do a transparency channel with the image he wants to use. That can't be correct. Maybe he has to re-format the image or the file, or use chroma key, but that should at least be mentioned.

    We'll try this one more time...._THIS VIDEO_ is about selecting an alpha channel INSIDE a video file. It's not about how to create an alpha in a still file. Creating an alpha channel in a 32 bit still is NOT the point of this video. If you want longform explanations of how to convert a video to a still image and include a transparency channel...we offer full-length training.

    This is a 3 min video. It's simple. It's to the point. People like it. Except you.

  • unfortunately this doesn't work for me... The black background of the .mov file doesn't change to alpha..

  • @united3000

    If the .mov file isn't 32 bit, there isn't a transparency channel. See above comment.

  • thank you very much. i just assumed vegas didnt support alpha

  • @DominicMetal1979

    Again, please explain how you can extract a transparency channel from a 24bit video file. The point of THIS VIDEO is "Selecting Alpha Channels in Sony Vegas Software."

    This video addresses exactly what the title suggests.

    We also could mention that you CAN use Secondary Color Corrector as a Garbage Matte tool, but we didn't, because this is about selecting an Alpha Channel in a 32 bit file.

    We're sorry you didn't find it useful; most viewers have expressed appreciation.

  • @VASSTTraining Right. But you could at least mention that it CAN be done that way, rather than just saying "It can't be done" and then ending the video.

    Red=8bits

    Blue=8bits

    Green=8bits

    Alpha=8bits

    what 24bit video file format allows for a transparency channel (alpha channel) in it??

    *creating* an alpha channel via keying is NOT the same as selecting a transparency channel (one cannot select something that does not exist).

  • I was looking for this all evening! Thanks for the tip!

  • thanks, really buzz doing my first specail effect
