@44rumblefish what I've actually found helps is my stance. I've noticed that I've been sort of crouching forward just a tiny amount in my stance and I've found that if I focus on my stance and try to keep my hips pushed forward this actually keeps stretchign my hips as I'm doing padwork/shadow boxing/sparring etc. Kicks seem to be getting a lot better.
Thanks for the upload. I had 2 years out of thai boxing due to an arm injury and when I started back my kicking has gone to shit because the outside of my hips is so stiff it actually hurts to kick properly.
I don't feel it stretching the inside of my thigh or hamstring when i kick - i only feel pain on the outside of my hips so this is exactly the kind of stretching i need.
@ephasm, Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try.

@ephasm,
I know your post was a long time ago, but I have the same issue. only the hip side gives me a problem.
