Neither looked esp like athletes when they were interviewed in closeup at the beginning. Just pretty European girls. Very feminine. Amazing how such girlish looks mask the fantastic sporting abilities that both harboured.
Thank you so much for posting these vids. Seeing a younger Seles play in the early stages of her career are just amazing. You can see her fierceness and hunger. Thanks again for the good memories.
@Hoffenheim08 - And if we're being hypothetical - what's to say Graf's back problems may not have flared much earlier if Seles hadn't been taken out of the game 93-95? Hammering the moonballing of Sanchez-Vicario and others would have been a stroll in the park compared to dealing with Seles's attack off the ground.
@Hoffenheim08 - you are correct about Graf's back issue being hereditary but not correct to say Seles's style of play contributed to her shoulder injury. That occured due to overstretching prior to her 96 Aus Open s/f against Rubin - Seles herself said she heard and felt something 'pop'. It corrected itself when she was forced to take some time off at the end of 96/start of 97 due to a broken finger.
its easy to say stuff but when you ask for evidence to back up your claims you go all quiet
all you seles and graf fans are all the same... cant accept a win over the other and have excuses for every win and loss, You are as as bad as each other.
@artisking
Sanchez and Hingis did the same.
All of them - Sanchez, Hingis and Seles - stayed well below the 10 slam mark though.
Graf won 22 ...

Steffi's back problems were well-known. Everybody who followed tennis back then remembers that.
Why should I waste my time to search google/yahoo in order to enlighten some kid who doesn't know shit about tennis?
