  • Unlike clerks in stores, who might say "Merry Christmas" to you out of ignorance, Heather Hays says it to a person she *knows* is an atheist. (I'm going to force a bit of Christianity on you whether you like it or not.) Imagine her doing the same to a person she knows to be Jewish and you get my point. It's intolerant, disrespectful and unprofessional.

  • That bitch of a newscaster is a christian? Sour-faced, hate filled, poverty hating, tea party supporting, propaganda spreading whore!

  • That woman is in dire need of a history lesson. The "Christmas season" is merely a ploy from the church, which grafted its rituals, doctrines, etc. onto pre-existing ceremonies e.g. Saturnalia and the winter solstice. Further study would show her that Jesus' birth couldn't possibly have taken place at this time of the year, but rather SEVERAL MONTHS earlier. In any case, Mr. McDonald is simply pointing out that the Bible is indeed WRONG: People truly do not need some god to be good.

  • He should have asked her, how exactly does a factual statement like the one posted on the bus offend her or anyone else for that matter? The sign did not say "There is no god and anyone who believes there is, is a MORON". That I can see some may find offensive. "Millions of Americans are Good without God" is a factual statement that can not be disputed and is by no means offensive...

  • To be honest, I never minded people telling me "merry Christmas." In the US, Christmas is just as much of a secular holiday as it is a religious one. I interpret Christmas as getting together with family and having a good time.

I mean, we say "happy Halloween" to each other, but that doesn't imply that we celebrate the festival of Samhain.

  • There's nothing more offensive and terrifying than an articulate, polite, older gentleman atheist. No wonder Christians are quaking in their boots.

  • @ProbableFiction Yup. Those Americans that do that are called 'hypocrites'. They only support freedom of speech they agree with. As I say 'The constitution doesn't exist so the majority can feel justified in persecuting the minority, it exists so the minority can know the majority can't persecute them.'

  • Christmas is awesome. Seriously, who doesn't like shiny lights, pagen decorations, boozey feasts, and presents?

  • @TechnomancerMorhion That's correct. Unfortunately, too many Americans while savagely supporting freedom of speech all too often pick and choose just which kind of speech is free.

  • Christians are obviously insecure. Why else would they all always be so quick to take offence to one little sentence?

  • @ugfabian Yeah I agree, to me it seemed she came out like Kelly and then "softened" as you say. This is the first time I've seen this particular anchor. Kelly would not likely have let the guest speak.
