Gordon Lightfoot singing Pussywillows Cat-tails. Classic spring folk song. I could not find a video of him performing the song, so I added a few images to the audio.

  • i was taught this song in music class, in primary school. this song truly is written on my heart, profoundly changing my outlook forever. i am still bewitched 20 years later, it still fills my heart with warmth and utter joy.

  • ''When I was 17 it was a very good year''

  • @ReligiousZombie was Divine your first love ?

  • @kattatonic1 There are some songs that are profoundly emotionally evocative, that resonate with you at a deep, deep level. For me, this is one such song. Masterfully crafted. Thanks so much for posting it.

  • This was the song that I fell in love with as well as the singer ;) great video also!

  • last semester while I was in my high school english class we had this like sixty year old grouchy sub that was yelling at us for listening to our ipods. He demanded to know what we were listening to for so reason and when I said Gordon Lightfoot he gaped at me and then gave me extra credit. I'm eighteen and grew up listening to him and i laugh every time when his music generation are like how old are you and you're listening to him? Go Gordon! I hopefully get to see him preform in St. George.

  • So beautifull .It always been my favorite Lightfoot song. ( Although there are so many more great ones)

    !

  • Such a beautiful song. I love the orchestral backing, especially the oboe which adds that forlorn and distant feeling as well as the strings that emulate a gentle spring rain. The lyrics are pure poetry, the beauty of a Canadian spring and the blossoming of new love. One of Gord's best.

  • Obscure observations that make for a beautiful song. I especially enjoyed "naked limbs and wheat bins".
