Gifting was one of the tenents of the pre-Christian religion of the Anglo-Saxons. You can still see that today in charity. However, it Gifting is not the same as Money Laundering to raise money for Politicians like Millionaire Slumlord Tony Rezko did for his Political Pets.

When Palin needed to sell her house during her last year as Wasilla mayor, she got the city to sign off on a special zoning exception — and did so without keeping a promise to remove a potential fire hazard.
She gladly accepted gifts from merchants: A free "awesome facial" she raved about in a thank-you note to a spa. The "absolutely gorgeous flowers" she received from a welding supply store. Even fresh salmon to take home.

We also have an abundant supply of natural gas that can be made available much cheaper, that all cars, that run on gas, can be converted with minimal changes.

it's naive to think off-shore drilling is going to produce a drop of oil in 10 years. and it's only about 5% of America's energy needs.
In WW2 WE had our Navel fleet all but wiped out in the Pacific, but America got on the problem and increased our fleet and many other weapons systems in 2 yrs.We can have oil quickly if we put our talents to work.We also should drill in ANWAR.When OPEC see we are serious more production will be made available causing prices to drop.We also need more refineries.

Doing SOMETHING is better than doing NOTHING! It'll send a signal to the Saudis NOW that we are taking steps to FREE ourselves from THEIR OIL! What people don't seeM to understand is that, yes, we WILL find alternative energy sources for transportation -- but folks, we STILL NEED OIL for millions of other products that we use every day! i.e., tires, plastics, computer parts, packaging, just to name a FEW! So shut up your idiotic comments about not drilling NOW! It is IMPERATIVE!
