In this video, Transition Video Magazine took a trip to, Alpha Records, hoping to learn how those lovely LPs go from little balls of plastic to turntable ready works of art.

In the end, we learned a bit about the history of vinyl, selfless dedication and faced a bit of tragedy.

  • Bcuz- I don't know if they are related or not. The plant was in Plantation, Fl. That's in the Ft. Lauderdale area. I'm sure you could call them and get more details. If it's the same family, they will know about this documentary.

  • 0:52 Can't you use white glove? Badly manipulated records! Not surprising that we get scratched records even when brand new. Pressing plant are so bad nowadays.

  • Alapha Music Manufacturing re-opened in late 2011 with new owners. Quality is fantastic.

  • what a nice story and what a nice guy...

  • This touched my heart.

  • What a great story, sad to hear Dick passed away, seemed like a very proud and humble man. Ive been listening to vinyl since I was about 2 or 3 years old, grandparents and parents listening to it. I still buy vinyl now and I'm nearly 26, I really hope vinyl continues to be made and sold, I couldn't imagine life without it.

    Great video....

  • Oh man, this is a DEVASTATING story big time...such a wonderful guy, proud of his craft and business, giving a great and simple description of his work of art without getting close to being full of himself ever. A real craftsman. I loved him at once before even knowing what the end of the story would bring, I have tons of respect for people like him, and so should you, because real knowledge people are getting so scarce.Interestingly, vinyl is up and coming again.Heartbreaking that he left now.
