Nope, the canard wings moved in response to faulty software and excessive pilot input. They sure didn't help once the pilot lost control though...

Did it have something to do with the canard wings? I have never seen any other plane that wasn't vectored thrust flare like the one that crashed in stockholm

LInkoping in Sweden. Pilot induced oscillation. This is the same guy that put a JAS39 in the drink at the Stockholm Water Festival. He got out of this one with just a damaged ankle as far a I'm aware. What a ride though!

It's the first prototype of the SAAB JAS 39 Gripen. Faulty software, just like in the second crash.
