Everybody gathered around enjoying Tom Brier's piano playing! It was GREAT!

In this clip Tom Brier sight reads a tune called "New London Rag," composed by Rudolf Radna.

This took place at the end of the Annual West Coast Ragtime Festival in Sacramento, CA in mid November of 2008.

  • And I almost forgot to mention, Keeper1st arranged this piece (recomposed the repeat of the second strain, and added a recap of the first strain and introduction to the end)

  • Thanks for the kind words, I'm trying to write more. I have three completed ones, two others that are sort of sketchy, and plans for another, but it isn't a rag, at least not yet, because it isn't syncopated.

  • Well, it sounds like you have an interesting and fun project.

I hope I get a chance to hear the results!

    BEST!

  • I'm going to have to get a diginal video camera so I can start putting my stuff up here myself. I'm nowhere near Tom Brier's piano skill level, but I'm not an abject beginner either.

  • Git 'r done!

  • I love Tom Brier and his massive neckbeard

Guy chillin in the back with chucks :)

  • Check my deviantart gallery, hrodulf . deviantart . com, for scores of New London Rag and other rags I wrote.

  • Coolness. Let me know when you get something posted!

  • Composer here. I am pretty familiar with Joplin rags, but I wasn't thinking about any Joplin rags when I wrote this, which was in college back in 1995 and some strains really just popped into my head. I havn't had an experience like that since really, where I just had a musical idea that I used. If there is something similar to Joplin it is sheer coincidence in my opinion, for what it's worth. I did not set out to copy anything Joplin wrote, that would be plagarism and I am not a plagarist.
