I'm afraid the guy is just sitting , as you indicate, improvising. It's probably all forgotten by now, hehe. All I can say is that this is a drop D tuning, and he's fooling around with the D-A and Eminor chords.... but you've probably figured that out allready.

At this time, the nut was too low... now it is repaired. The string was buzzing into the first fret.
