I just noticed something. I had always thought Gabrielle's vibrato sounded somehow different from other violinists. Usually I don't actually watch the videos (just listen to the music), but this time I watched and it looks like she uses arm vibrato, which is relatively unusual. Does she use arm vibrato, or is it just that I don't have my glasses on? Also, I noticed that she actually moved her thumb onto the fingerboard for some high notes. Is this conventional technique?

Since Gabrielle is chatting with friends mostly when she's on line, so I will answer for her, but I am not a musician, so I will be glad to be corrected. Here is my opinion - 1. the vibrato can be done by fingers, hands, or arms. Gabrielle did use more arm that day because, as a soloist, she was doing everything big and trying to produce bigger sound on her violin because there are 20+ violins right behind her. She can be easily over powered by orchestra. (see 2. in next reply)

(Continued from previous) 2. Thumb is usually not on the strings. Its mainly used to anchor the hand so other fingers can work accurately and efficiently. If you have big hand, your thumb can stay at fewer places and under most of time, but Gabrielle doesnt have big hands, so she needs to move the thumb on the finger board so other fingers can reach very high positions. I think its just necessary for her. For others, if its not necessary, they will save the troubles naturally.

I for one, would love to see the other movements, regardless of how many times they've been posted. Besides, this is her only performance of this concerto with orchestra on YouTube, isn't it? Please post the other videos =)

Thanks for asking. Many other recordings (other movements and with other orchestra) are available on our website. The 10 minutes limit on YouTube really bother me, but there is no such limit on a personal website.
