  • It is why we have such a transport problem they scrapped all our railways..

    And our Industry..

    Smart move??

    Fucking Politicians.

    Vermin.

  • Such a shame that so many lines have closed in this Country. We are paying the price now with engineering works all over the place and the valuable diversionary lines shut resulting in replacement buses. This happens even in the Summer! Not exactly the way to entice 'Joe Public' from their cars and on to the railways. Great vid, thanks for sharing.

  • Consett is now the largest settlement in the UK without a station or railway! Utter madness!

  • Loads of lorries on the road now instead of train transport. Should still be open. Wouldnt mind a trip to sunderland or the toon on the train. Nice scenery too.

  • Remember as a kid when u cud tell where the station was :P

Lives in delves for almost 12 years now.

  • A lot of the line is now a cycle path. I always wondered if it was a railway line at one time. I assumed it connected a lot of the coal mine pits that used to be in the area.

  • I was there,I managed to get a Ticket and I enjoyed my Haulage by the only named

class 46,this Loco had been a GD Engine for most of it's life and I had her for haulage about four times previous to this, but who cared it was slow but first class.

The Weather was utterly freezing, like Stalingrad I was glad to get back aboard.

  • The Consett railway would be ideal for the Newcastle Metro railway to extend if only time will tell.

  • Your right about lines shut that could have been used as diversionary routes. The prime example to this was the Harrogate-Ripon-Northallerton line. This would have been for when the ECML was shut north of York.

  • thanx for the vids and info
