People must have had both better memory and more time in the 70's to create music this quality. I mean, I don't get how they can remember a 42 minute arrangement and how they managed to create it.
Today we mostly just have 3 minute popsongs with one beat...

just noticed this song appears in The Simpsons. at the end of the episode in which lisa plays a boy the school's "best flutist" is awarded. the boy jumps on the stage dressed as ian anderson and sings some lines from the opening part of "thick as a brick" until being hit by a chair.
