I was a sibson fan and he was the second best middleweight in the world prior to this fight but on this night he met the best middle weight ever in a bad mean mood .
Hagler just supreme

For a guy some see as a brawler, Hagler boxed masterfully. He consistently worked behind a stiff jab, punched from angles, punched in combination, and gave Sibson a lot of movement which frustrated him and had him missing a lot. Great boxing from a great boxer.

what a magnificent fighter Marvin Hagler was. definitley he is of the cream of the crop

@vincespell rubbish, leonard said he wanted to fight Hagler after he had a war with Mugabi! Your comment Leonard was the same age doesn"t stand up, Ray was fresher, Hagler never took 5yrs out! I do believe Leonard nicked the decision, but wouldn"t of beaten the Hagler that smashed Tommy Hearns....

You guys don't know shit about boxing or how to evaluate a fighter. Leonard was just as old as Hagler. Hagler lost that fight to Leonard because he wouldn't engage him fully! He followed Leonard around the ring. He paused when Leonard attacked, He waited. Hagler gave the fight away for lack of effort. When Hagler did attack he was effective and almost knocked Leonard out! But Hagler was weary of Leonards speed so he followed Leonard for most of the fight! HAGLER GAVE THE FIGHT AWAY! PERIOD!

i agree Sweetd32, but i still think Hagler won against leonard. Leonard ran the entire time, taunted, and and never fought hagler straight up. Hagler was the greatest middleweight ever and one of the greatest boxers of all time. He's my favorite middleweight.

Hagler... in, out, side to side, what movement and never off balance once. I've never seen a fighter look so comfortable in EITHER the southpaw or orthodox stance, the 'complete package' if you like. Tony Sibson, what a game effort, he never gave up. A great fight contested by a true challenger and a true champion.

Looks as if Hagler's pursuing a strategy of using his footwork and throwing a lot of straight punches to keep outside more than he usually would, presumably to make full use of his 6-inch reach advantage over Sibson.
Hagler had a full arsenal; he could fight on the inside, on the outside; strong enough to brawl with you, quick enough to box with you...about as complete a fighter as they come

sibson is the closest guy ive seen to almost outbox hagler. sugar ray doesnt count that fight was bogus.
leonard would never have beaten Hagler then. waited til he got old.
