A.N.C.H.O.R., a year-round program based in Long Island, New York, stands for Answering the Needs of Citizens with Handicaps Through Organized Recreation. One of the organization's activities is the Drama Program, a repertory company comprised of mentally and physically handicapped men, women and children representing the entire spectrum of disability: Down Syndrome, learning disabled, autism, cerebral palsy, etc.

In the winter of 2004, the group embarked on its four month-long preparation to mount a performance of The Wizard of Oz, one of its most demanding productions to date.

Yellow Brick Road chronicles this wondrous journey, and focuses on the struggles of a handful of the group's key players as they rise to the occasion. Narrated by the group's passionate directors, the film takes audiences inside a microcosm that is little seen and seldom understood. Ranging from deepest pathos to tender comedy to subtle introspection, Yellow Brick Road is an unforgettable experience.

  • This was the best comedy i have seen in years :) the tin was by far the funniest

  • it's an amazing movie. they have it on netflix for anyone who wants to see it.

  • dude chill out wit the nasty comments why does any of that matter as long as they have fun doing the play the rest does not matter

  • I saw this and believe me it is hysterical! Don't you just love all the pc bullcrap nowadays? Everybody uses words like "inspiring" and "heartwarming" about drivel like this and worse yet is the fact that I think some people even BELIEVE that. What is so "inspiring" and "heartwarming" about watching a bunch of talentless retarded adults slur their way through a kindergarten level play? Nothing. It's entertaining on about the same level as "Bum Wrestling" or a freak show.

  • The Wizard of Oz film as released at the outbreak of World War 2 was an outbreak of humanity in an increasingly brutalised world. The enlightenment of the united Germany under Bismarck had been crushed by the Psychopathic mores of Hitler with his Eugenic obsession that was fashionable at the time. Psychopaths were in control with catastrophic results. In our darkest hour, the Wizard of Oz shows how people with different abiities can unite to beat a formidable menace. The magic lives on!

  • I want to see the tree! When do I get to see the damn tree?
