  • Yes, I read that quote when I was studying this piece several years ago. He certainly paints a fine tone picture! I want to revisit it again soon and finish learning the last mvt.

  • I haven't actually played much Scriabin. His chords break my hands -- I can barely reach a tenth, let alone a twelfth. Maybe one day, when I find a smaller piano. :P

  • The best performance I've heard of this piece, including Richter's great one as well...so beautiful and breath-taking.

  • In Scriabin's own words, "The first section represents the quiet of a southern night on the seashore; the development is the dark agitation of the deep, deep sea. The E major middle section shows caressing moonlight coming up after the first darkness of night. The second movement represents the vast expanse of ocean in stormy agitation."

He certainly took a note or two from Debussy before composing this piece.

  • Exquisite! I love this piece more than words can tell...

  • @G33kz0r and yet Scriabin was small handed ;)

  • Reminds me so dearly of the last movement of Chopin's Second Sonata.

  • absolutely amazing, the music and the performance... that massive chord outburst near the end really rips through your soul
