I find it enormously satisfying to note that Jacques Laffite scored an F1 podium at aged 42 and Michael Schumacher did not...

I'm going to pay Jacques Laffite the ultimate compliment:
He did a better job at aged 42 than Michael Schumacher is doing at aged 41.

It makes no difference how many races a man win's?
It's his overall skill, and feel for the car is what count's,
Laffite was and still is a gifted driver,
he could go out right now and make a good showing even in his retirement,
modern racing has gotten totally rediculous,
too much tech stuff, and not enough of the driver input like yrs ago,
