Is it like this: Paul Young, 'Boy George', (Phil Collins on the drums), George Michael, Simon le Bon, Tony Hardley ... Sting, Bono and Simon le Bon?

Twenty-six later and this is still the best!

On christmas day during WW1, the British and German soldiers laid down their weapons and exited the trenches, they marched across the baroned battle lands, exhausted and drenched in filth and the blood of their fallen brothers.
They shook hands, ate and drunk together, shared a friendly game of Football and forgot all the hate and destruction of the months gone, and the months to come.
If even they, sworn enemies of war, could forget all hate, why can't we?

Really the best version for me...maybe because I lived thru this time as a teenager when it became famous...just the intro gives me the goose bumps..

Yeah, they knew it was Christmas - the starving people were mainly Christians. This is moronic and tacky.

1 person doesn't know it's Christmas.

Midge Ure rules.

one of those iconic christmas songs. that gets stuck in your head in july. love that midge wrote this. wish he'd got more credit for it and all the good things he does in the world. the man is far too modest.

@mongooz24 Lol haha, I know the feeling. It was bugging me for AGES!
This 1984 version is the best version of this song, hands down. It has the most soul and the synthesizers sound fantastic and it really adds to the dreamlike qualities of Christmas.

Both Band Aid and USA for Africa did great things! Who cares who was thr first? The aim was the same - to raise money and help people who needed help and both did it! Americans fallowed the initiative and it's great! It wold be even better if dozens of countries did the same thing!
p.s. The song is outstanding!
