Asus Eee 901 Need for Speed Underground 2 NFSU2 Gaming

Asus 901 (1.6ghz Atom, 1gb Ram, XP) running EAs Need for Speed Underground 2 in 'power saving mode' (800mhz) so the result may be translated to the 900 or perhaps the 701. The game runs smoothly in 'explore' mode, however, during racing modes there is noticable slow-down when more than 3 cars are on screen at once.
In addition, the game is installed to a SanDisk Ultra II 2gb SD card.

Apparently a condition of the windows xp licence on the Eee is that the CPU must not exceed 1.6ghz out of the factory. I assume to promote Vista on higher spec machines. Of course you can still overclock the Eee in windows xp using programs like eeectl. It seems to have no overheating issues at 1.8ghz. If you've taken yours to 2.21ghz that's cool (though the cpu is probably running hot).

maybe it's a stupid question, but why do you love it? cause of some serious gaming power definitely not!

it runs office, itunes and web browsing for up to 7 hours on a single charge and it's tiny but more user friendly than my pda. it's fine for games pre-2004. if you want to play the newer games on a 8" laptop you'd need look elsewhere.

@shano4321 dude is not your processor is your graphics chipset intel always suck even i you play need for speed hot pursuit on core i7 with intel graphics will suck there are mini laptops with nvidia ion with atom if you love gaming on atom go with nvidia ion

well i have eeepc 1005HA and its playing fine but sometimes it stucks a liiiiittle bit and then plays fast on auto-high-power..
