ACORN Protected By Liberals Yet Again

On June 25, 2009, Congressman Steve King today introduced an amendment during a Small Business Committee markup that would have made ACORN and 174 of its affiliates ineligible to receive taxpayer dollars under a new grant program intended to increase participation in the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The new program would authorize grants to organizations to increase outreach to geographic areas underrepresented in the SBIR program and to small businesses owned and controlled by women, service-disabled veterans and minorities in an effort to bring about greater participation of these groups in the SBIR program. All but one Small Business Committee Democrat voted Kings amendment down, leaving ACORN eligible to receive taxpayer money to provide outreach services under this new program.

Bullship is correct. ACORN MUST SUBMIT REGISTRATION CARDS WHETHER THEY MAY BE FRAUDULENT OR NOT. This is to assure that those attempting to register are not arbitrarily rejected by ACORN itself. All ACORN can do is flag these names. I, too, am appalled by the actions of some ACORN employees, but King proves again he is an awful legislator.

I happen to agree with Rep King on this -- -assuming the facts are as he says.

Its so hard to get an honest report on the facts. For example, first we heard how Acorn was supposely making up all kinds of names -- such as Micky House.

Then we find out -- no, they werent. No matter what name some jerk uses when they fill out the cards, Acorn MUST turn them in. It would be ILLEGAL for Acorn to throw up registrations. Acorn actually flagged those fake names for the authorities ./
