  • This is why kids listen to music with lyrics. I'm glad I turned in my sax and took up guitar. In my free time, I get more gigs and make more money and play music people really enjoy. Little wonder Pop, Rock and even Hip-Hop music vids get MILLIONS of views, while freaks watch this crap Coldplay, Maroon 5 ,Country Music get MILLIONS of views. 7,000 view here. What a joke. That's why it's called Popular Music - certainly NOT jazz.

  • your exactly right "kids listen to music with lyrics" so i guess this music is for adults, not little kids like you.

when was the last time you made 300,000 dollars? braxton was awarded the 300,000 mccarthy grant for genius's and performs all over the world. when was the last time you went to europe or japan for a gig?

if you think the quality of music/art is decided by the amount of hits it gets on youtube you are mistaken.

please stick to mtv and leave the real music to adults, thanks.

  • hoookcattt.. if you claim to be an 'educator' and are genuinely interested in learning then maybe research braxton and his musical/philosophical systems. hes obviously far surpassed your own musical understanding and therefore it requires research in order to understand it. i'm sure you didnt know what a ii-v-i was until u learned about it.

  • finally someone with a real thought.

  • aaah the video and sound are so out of synch!

  • yeah, sorry about that. i tried reuploading it and it's still messed up, any suggestions?

  • I tried so hard to figure out what the "next Coltrane" talk was all about this guy years ago, I really listened to about 100 tracks before realizing that Braxton was and is overrated beyond belief, and lucky to have had the adulation and suport, there are thousands of guys who can blow his ass away who cannot get a gig ! His encrypted song names to most are pompous artsy fart b.s.

  • Thanks for the video, Braxton, as I have stated before, is a visionary and a pioneer. Free, improv jazz at its finest.

  • @hoookcattt Do you like Lewis Carroll?

  • @freejazzfree this post might be written 3 years ago.. but i would like to agree on you..!!! this music has to be researched... a true genius indeed.. to common ears, they might find it very annoying, but to ears who are musically exposed, you can hear lines that are really new and would trigger something..i can't explain..lol but i love this music..

  • What a bunch of maroons.

Thanks for uploading this. Braxton's work is hardly relevant to Coltrane. His work is decidedly in the "serious" or "art" or "new music" tradition, although it of course integrates his roots in jazz. He's probably closer to, say, Stockhausen (whose work he admires) or someone working in that sort of post-classical idiom. Last I heard, 'Trane (genius that he was) was not interested in writing opera, as Braxton has.

  • I think there's a point where it's clear that you're trying too hard to make something "original" or "artistic" rather than just expressing yourself.

  • @kenkiser800 Yeah, let's be honest, it doesn't take a lot of talent to play what's in this video. But have you ever heard Pat Metheny play? If you play guitar you should really listen to him, that guy's amazing. Popularity has little to do with talent or how good the music is, but everything to do with cultural trends. There's nothing difficult or original about most hip-hop, but it's popular. Don't let yourself be defined by what others want, truly original music has to come from the soul.

  • It sounds like this is actually structured somehow!! Like organized confusion?? I don't know I can hear some chords and stuff!! What style of music is this?/ It sounds like a recording of an old cartoon or something Wizard of Oz..lol

  • Does anyone know who bassist and violinist are?

  • @kenkiser800 dude, just go fuck yourself and comment on videos of music u enjoy, i repeat: just go fuck yourself.
