  • Great video! I have a question, is it a good ideal to plant cantaloupe, squash, pumpkins & water melon in the same area next to each other? Thanks

  • @pathfinder95626 Since cross pollination does not effect the current fruits, having them together is not an issue for that. The only issue is with pests and diseases, and that is not (from what I understand) an issue with proximity to each other as much as rotation so they are not always in the same patch of soil in the garden. That said, I still have difficulty "rotating" crops very much. For one or two years, I pretty much skipped cucurbits altogether, so that is another option.

  • Just found your channel, The garden looks great and I am looking forward to seeing how it goes. Really happy to see you growing sweet potatoes and okra that far north. That just is amazing.

  • @MrStepheninKY Thanks, yes and Sweet Potatoes as well as Okra do just fine up here in Central Jersey. My biggest problem is keeping the rodents out of the Sweet Potatoes, and keeping them stored long term... but they grow just fine!

  • Awesome video and wicked garden!! *thumbs up* I love it.. can't wait to see how everything goes for ya! ; ) Your place is amazing.!

  • @theGHETTOMAN1 Thanks, man. I liked your seed fest and how you were growing peppers when it was snowing out! Way to stretch the season!

  • Vine borers don't like radishes.

  • @maryperkinsmorris P.S. June will mark 10 years of Garden Videos! Can you believe it? I made the first one in June of 2001 using our Mavica camera and recording to floppy disks!

  • @maryperkinsmorris Yes, I picked up a few new subscribers over the last couple of months. Kinda fun, and I try to reply to all comments as well. Yeah, I didn't exactly cut back this year. Since one of my "secondary" plants ended up producing the 550-lb pump, I decided it warranted some expansion. It was still a large task, but made doable thanks to the Deere with a front loader, and the "dump trailer" I purchased last year. We'll see if I have any luck!

  • Wow, your audience has grown....!! I am impressed!! Also, I loved the sweet potato illustration....amazing!! Your pumpkin patch is huge! Guess that goes with the hugeness potential of the residents!! Good luck with that!

    love,

your sis, and one of your earliest and most devoted fans (along with my hubby)
