My opinion of the elections filmed on election day 21 October 2007.
A two horse race for the first time in Poland and very little to choose in substance yet rated as being the most important elections in Poland since the fall of socialism in 1989.
The result was a resounding victory for
Platforma Obywatelska - much greater than that which was expected. The polls showed a lead for Platforma Obywatelska but they were wrong three years ago and I believed that the polls showed bias in favour of urban voters against rural voters. However it turned out that the polling organisations were much more sofisticated than I, or former premier Jaroslaw Kaczynski, gave them credit for.
Nonetheless Prawo i Sprawiedliwość actually gained seats in Parliament with more than one million votes than it gained in 2005 which shows a significant increase in its support. This must be due to Jaroslaw Kaczynski's success in alienating and marginalising his former coalition partners whose voter clearly chose to back PiS.
Lewica i Demokraci performed more or less as expected and probably will from now be a permanent feature on the Polish political scene.
Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe also came back from a position of being almost completely submerged by Samoobrona and for the second time in five years could find itself once again in government.
Protest parties Samoobrona and Liga Polskich Rodzin gained only around three percent of the vote between them which shows considerably maturity in voters as well as the success of Jarosław Kaczynski in alienating them.

I believe that to a large extent the failure of PiS can be put down to the corruption which was inherent within that party and in particular the use of the CBA to further its own political ends whilst doing nothing about organised crime and large scale corruption even if it did manage to entrap and then convict without trial the very stupid Beata Sawicka of PO.

No I am not nor am I planning to become one. The only thing that would convince me to do this is if Britain left the European Union which is not very likely.

TV1 jest bardziej obiektywne jak TVN24 do tomek123ek nie pisz 3 razy glupoty, napisz cos merytorycznie. PIS od poczatku chcial dokladnego sledztwa ale slepo ufal premierowi Tusk, MSZ Sikorskiemu i Komorowskiemu.

Do tej pory nie zabespieczono miejsca katastrofy. Do tej pory sledzcwo nie jest zakonczone i trzeba brac pod uwage wszystkie mozliwosci. Sluchaj Bogdan Święczkowski - były szef ABW na Radio Maryja
