  • Hi there! I found your site by clicking on your name in the comments section (along with a bunch of others) from a sarcoidosis video.. Basically to hear some stories with regards to the disease. I was wondering are you still able to sing at all? You had a great voice and so I wondered if the sarc has impaired your lungs and if you were put on prednisone?. I was diagnosed with sarc in 05 after numerous symptoms. So far my lungs thank goodness have not been affected. It's mostly in my lymph nodes

  • @westy40 For some reason it is saying that your channel (westy40) is not available. Feel free to contact me via e-mail at Gavsmom2003@yahoo.com make sure you put Sarcoidosis in the subject so I don't delete it. To answer some of your question's I became symptomatic immediately after having my son in 1999. I did not receive an official diagnosis until 2003. My Brother Kenny and I were diagnosed the same day (an hour apart) to be exact after having our lymph node's removed by the oncology

  • @Kevsgirl234 Department of Mass General Hospital. Initially we both were diagnosed of sarcoid of the lymph node's, however for both of us over the year's it spread. My Brother ended up getting it in his eye, and eventually his heart causing him to pass away from cardio myopathy (enlarged diseased heart) at the age of 35. I just turned 37, though I told everyone 36, must be age lol. It also started out in my lymph node's and eventually spread to my lung's, joints and nervous system.

  • @Kevsgirl234 They say it is not genetic, that it is environmental. I do know a few families that have more than one family member affected, but take into consideration most of us grow up in the same household, school's,neighborhood's, etc. For example 3 of my Brother's friend's that he grew up with have been diagnosed. A vast amount of Desert Storm Vet's, as well as First responder's from 9/11 have also been diagnosed. I hope this helps. Feel free to e-mail me. As far as singing goes I still

  • @Kevsgirl234 sing, though not as often as the sarcoid has caused nodule's on my vocal fold's and the last few video's I did post I took down to negative comment's that upset my son. I really only put the video's up for him and if people like them then that is cool. Thank you so much for your kind compliment's. I also was on prednisone for a short while as I did not tolerate it well. They switched me to bi-weekly solumedrol injection. I have sinced stopped all treatment as I am pregnant, but

  • @Kevsgirl234 Will have to resume after giving birth, especially because the bodies natural steroid's that are produced during pregnancy wear off approximately 3 months after delivery. Look forward to talking to you. Hope all is well - Rachel

  • @westy40 Hi, Sorry it has taken me so long to respond my schedule is crazy right now. I would be more than happy to address your question's, but would prefer to do so in a message. I will message you now. Thanks - Rachel

  • Also, I see that you haven't uploaded a video of yourself singing in a few years and so I really really hope the sarc hasn't taken your singing away because you had a special gift there. I think you also mentioned your brother died of the disease in your comment. Did they think it was hereditary in your case? Sorry you've had to deal with all that. Anyway I hope things are well and that you are managing the disease.

  • @applewhiteroad Thank you so much. The audio sucks, but I post for my son and my Mom. Your compliment means a lot to me :)
