Ken Valastro demonstrates how he finishes a large oil painting. This painting is from a reference photograph he shot during a city rainstorm. This video is 3 minutes long and during that time Ken talks about composition, his palette of interesting grays and high chroma, painting from reference photographs, and how he knows when the painting is done. This oil painting demonstration is the first in a series of short videos that will touch on many topics like- deciding on composition, brush technique, how he uses his palette and the way he thinks about the painting as it develops on the canvas.
Ken, did you glaze the final painting? I noticed a brighter rendering at the end of the video.
