  • Regardless of what the non-believer say, the effects predicted from relativity (special and the general theory) HAS been seen countless times, and the math just works flawless as well. Trust me, I study physics. If you want some good study material, just ask me. One book on S.R. I strongly recommend (the math is not very difficult) is a text by Taylor and Wheeler - Spacetime physics

  • AHhhhh Open University.

The good old days when Science was boring and wore turtle necks.

  • special relativity is invalid. see my videos at 269cristo sometimes people think that clocks running at different rates proves time dilation. all it proves is that you have 2 clocks running at different rates, and of course this difference can only be determined by measuring them in the same duration of time, that is, in the SAME TIME. this is not my only objection as you will see if you take the time to search out theses videos. thank you. I welcome criticism

  • @ubcphysicsyangbo Who's the non believers anyway.

  • @cmd1024 if you are talking about the part with the signal pulse being observed by the larger ship then look more carefully and notice that the small ship is moving and remember that the photons from headlights on a car dont travel faster if the car is moving unlike if you throw something out the car in the direction of travel it will have the cars speed plus whatever your throwing arm could produce, although in real life the delay between the pulses on the spaceship would be pretty non existant

  • there is one thing about the animations. the guy keeps saying the speed of light is constant. but in some situations in the animations they made the two photons moving in different speed. do you agree? or am i seeing it wrong?

  • I agree that this explanation overall is poor. It explains basically in these models an illusion about light and motion but does not actually elucidate the nature of the time space phenomenon regarding the relativity of time,

  • @PabloPena108 You see the relativistic effects with any clock! All these things have been worked out in more advanced special relativity texts for physics students using all kinds of clocks. You can also find examples in peer reviewed physics journals. The light clock is used as a teaching tool because of its simplicity. The ultimate test of a theory is if it agrees with experiments and all the predictions of special relativity have been verified in the lab. It is conceptually difficult though!

  • I don't like the light clock analogies. They are relying on visual perspective to account for real changes in time/space? What if the clock's used were spring loaded or based on sound? How can one expect actual changes in time dilation to be based on visual perspectives?? I don't understand.

  • @lustatus Diamagnetic effect.

  • Relativistic mass isn't the whole story of why particle accelerators require so much energy though. Accelerated charged particles (like protons) also bleed significant energy through synchrotron radiation.
