ivan it's moyor banb for mi litelle franche DEVO IS THE GRANT IADE OF ENGNGLANDE

and the the most progresist 25 ago

  • the top of

  • Alan is tearing up those drums!

  • @LetsGoMetsGo33 i like all the songs on the first album and i love the main couplet of FOC (freedom of choice is what you got, freedom from choice is what you want) and the tiny guitar solo :) but FOC is also my least favourite of the first five albums. the mothersbaugh brothers are both gods in my opinion

  • @fuckamericanidiot i stand corrected on the dates. jocko IS way weirder, but it grabs me for the Island of Lost Souls references and sick guitar tone (as opposed to keyboard being more prominent). to each their own btu for my money foc and mongoloid kick ass (i acknowledge that's not what a Devo fan typically looks for in their music...) cheers.

  • @LetsGoMetsGo33 foc bores the hell out of me but jocko homo is way weirder and one of my absolute favourites; by the way the first album was 78 and mongoloid was released as a single in 77

  • @fuckamericanidiot "are we not men" (the album "mongoloid" is on)was '79, "Leave Home" (the album with "commando") was '77. Devo certainly would have heard the song. its become a common riff, used for example by the misfits in "halloween" and bad religion in "american jesus", but i havn't heard an earlier version than commando.you're right, this is "normal" for devo; its a more driving rock tune they they typically produced, which is why this,"freedom of choice", and "jocko homo" ARE my faves :)

  • @LetsGoMetsGo33 i'm not so sure, mongoloid is pretty damn old, but saying that even if it is it's not one of my favourite devo songs anyway, it's quite normal by devo standards
