  • being nosy, but what in the devil is that ticking noise in the background??? Sounds like a "2 fingered pecker" typist. I thought it was your chair, but it was ticking when u were still???

  • I thunk someone would ask about that. I had my door open and that noise is my air purifier taking out the allergens in my house.

  • Just wonder if it made a sound if no one was there to hear it?

Wood is the best source of heat there is. It warms you when you cut it, warms you when you split it, warms you when you haul it, warms you when you stack it, warms you when you tote it into the house, warms you when you burn it and it warms you as you tote the ashes back out.

My dad called all firewood shecan wood. Because if mom wanted a fire built, she can cut it, she can haul it and she can burn it and she can haul the ashes

  • Sounds like what my Dad told me.

  • Oh sure it made a sound when it fell. I know of one sound when a tree fell on me.

  • It's amazing how things are backwards.. farmers are up to date and burn gas, city folk burn wood? maby their trying to feel like their ruffing it?

  • Sounds like a big Cottonwood tree, they get absolutely huge here in Mo.

  • You betcha! Sounds like it was an old Oak huh? I try never to take out any healthy old trees if I can help it! I cut trees for side work after my day job. The largest/oldest tree that I can recall cutting up was 127 yrs old. It was a huge Oak that had started to rot from the inside out, It snapped in two so I was called up to get it cleaned up! Whew!

  • I knew it had to be something, but just couldn't figure out "what".? U act like you're better these days, so sure hope your health continues to improve Blessings to u. :):)

  • Great story Ronnieboy,

Imagine that, a tree so large your JD 9200 won't move it...wow. It's amazing how heavy a large tree can be.

I'm surprised you don't burn wood for heat. Here in southern Ontario we have lots of wood for burning and I cut hardwood every two years for my wood stove and sauna. I love cutting wood. We've been cutting up some Oak hardwood that fell by a tornado and we leave the healthy ones.

    Thanks
