Water, People and the Future - News CAST

A new CAST science paper addresses the need to protecting America's sustainable water resources. Scientists predict that by the year 2050 the U.S. population will have increased by 25 percent. This growing population will place a higher demand on water supplies as well as increase the demand for more food production across the nation. How will this increase in water consumption affect the availability of fresh water? How will this increase in water consumption affect the way we use water for agriculture to feed our growing population?
