Wow. Amazing, From Windows 1.x to Windows 7. They have definitely changed a lot since then...

Windows Chicago is a mixed breed of Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.
-
This Windows version is between 3.1 and 95.

@billyhope02 this iso file did not work!

This is build is really cool! I downloaded a .VHD file.

I have Windows Chicago Build 40. I casually found the build 40 CD when I was searching for the build 58. It is only an upgrade for windows 3.1. On the boot screen it says: Preliminary Release - May 1993

.iso file is not booting could anybody PLEASE HELP!!!!

@UploadVideos247 That's not so real. The "X" button that time there was not yet. This "-" button is not gone. It was like this: Microsoft has invented the "X" button and the "-" button madeinvisible, it gives him even more! Simply click the top left of the window and you'll see.
Is that a text field in the start menu bar? Is it functional or just a spacer in this early build? I've always wanted a run box or command line visible from anywhere in the OS. Also, that task management is actually really cool.

@jvdthwip That blank white space at the bottom was like an early version of the "Quick Launch" -- it was basically a folder inside the taskbar, where you could move or copy files there. Programs running in the background didn't appear in the taskbar though, they appear "within" the desktop like Windows 3.x did.

LOL, no 'x' button. NOW WHAT!

@RET80 It was a mix between Windows 3.1 and 95. The "x" button was the "-" in the top-left of the corner, it does look strange at first...

@TheAwesomeGuardian Looks like something went wrong during the installation.
I would recommend you try reinstalling it, then try the VPC if it is still not working, and if that doesn't work, your computer might be "too new" to run this old version, like now.. after I updated to Windows Virtual PC (from Virtual PC 2007) on my PC running Windows 7, I can't even operate it properly anymore :(
