The first Chiara prototype walking on our table at the AAAI (Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence) Robot Exhibition and Workshop, July 15, 2008, where it won the 2nd place award for technical excellence. And a blue one in the hallway at Carnegie Mellon.

Both shots are using a slow ripple gait where only one leg is lifted at a time. The robot can move more quickly if more legs are lifted.

  • Ah cool. You have a sensor(s) hanging from the tail It has a better view, and better pan angle from there. awesome job on this robot, keep it up. I would like to see it move a lot faster though.

  • We have a newer version which is smaller/lighter/faster, but unfortunately sacrifices some of the æsthetics of the original body. Hopefully we'll have some more impressive videos with the new body this summer :)

  • Hi! Impressive hexapod you got there! Are you using the Bioloid AX-12's servos?

  • Yes, this robot has 25 Dynamixel AX-12 servos plus 3 analog microservos in the gripper.
