Cenk Uygur speaks with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell on the GOP claim that the United States is 'broke'. Also, Michael Moore gave a speech to Wisconsin protesters on this topic which is largely confirmed by a new Bloomberg report.

The republicans WANT us to be broke because they WANT to end all of these programs. Nevermind the fact that they were wrong about them & these programs ALL WORKED. They hate them because it gives power to the working man, though some abuse it, or become dependent on govt. In this, I agree with the R's.
I'm all for making them better, but all the R's want is to end them.
Sorry. Not gonna happen, without a revolution. I'd back off if I were you.
This could get ugly.

Ok, if your debt exceeds your available resources, and your debt is growing in interest faster than you are able to earn money, you may be able to keep on borrowing for a long time, digging yourself deeper in to debt, but eventually the wellspring of funny-money WILL run barren, and you WILL be left with debt when no one will lend you more funny-money to pay the interest on your previously accrued debt. At least some democrats from the past were cash & carry. Oh well, it's been a fun experiment!

@BorgKing001 Oh yeah, because he said we should "steel" all their money? No, he's talking about raising their taxes a bit....It's you who's the idiot, sir.

@rolgorevene I owe some money on a credit card, but I still have money. I'm not broke. US debt (14 tril) to GDP is about 115%. Japans debt to GDP was 228% (unsure of now after recent incidents). The deficit isn't the end of the world. People are trying to make you scared. Think logically....

0:38 nor are you a democracy... your a republic something something... ask a smart american but its NOT a democracy

@rolgorevene that's not what the "not broke" remarks are about. what they're saying is, is that the u.s. still have a lot of money reserves, namely rich people.. all they had to do is actually tax them instead of cutting spending for those who actually need the money.
