One of the more well known of the Ames Demonstrations was the Ames Window. This consists of an essentially 2-D trapezoidal window. This window is painted in such a way that makes it appear to have depth to it. Because of visual assumptions, the trapezoidal window appears to be regular, rectangular, 3-D window frame. Also, when rotating at a constant speed, the window appears to oscillate and swing at alternating speeds.
This window was made for a visual perception psychology class.
