(This video's sound is better than the previous version.)

On Tuesday March 13, nearly 20 years after Larry Kramer gave his historic speech calling for a direct action group to fight the AIDS Crisis, he calls for a renewed effort to fight both AIDS and homophobia. Go to queer-justice-league.org for the text version of the speech

Following the speech the 200 member audience stayed for a meeting to plan an action to protest the comments of General Pace who said that gays are immoral. Democracy NOW! Reported that hundreds came to protest at the Time Square military recruitment center at noon last Thursday, March 14th.

To read Larry Kramer's speech go to http://queer-justice-league.blogspot.com/.

ACT UP's next action will be a march to demand Single-Payer National Health Insurance on Thursday, March 29th. Assemble at 11:30am, kick off march at noon from the Federal Building in Manhattan at the corner of Broadway and Worth St. To see the PSA on the action go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRtfg7iUWd4

  • QUOTE: "Allow the appointment of leaders & a chain-of-command to stay on top of things & keep some sort of order so we not only don't self-destruct as we seem to have more-or-less done, but also this time, as we didn't do before, institute ourselves for longevity." As an early ACT UP-NYer, I don't think activists are inclined to give-up their authority. We want to be our own leaders. Larry's suggestion of a trusted elite seems unrealistic. How could we get our gays of today to trust any leaders?

  • •Brother2Brother to you Larry,

  • What a powerful speech. My mind doesn't know what to do with all this information. It sounds reasonable and true to my ear for certain.

  • his book "todays gays" is so important!

  • Aids can be helped with out drugs just like the other problems that have been helped by upper cervical specific doctors that are found on upcspine . what these people can proves that the medical profession is pulling the wool over a lot of peoples eyes.prove it to me that this is not the case.don't let a full spine manipulator work on you that practices cavitation. upper cervical specific only.I can tell you more.

  • More righteous people die from obesity than AIDS. Cure obesity first then AIDS.

  • Amen!! He is right! We need to be pissed and not complacent - we take for granted everyone who has died for what we now take for granted.

  • One Voice...........Larry Kramers`. Started a voice resound throughout the nation.

  • You can bet your stuttering illiterate rap ass we`ll be there. You don`t have enough troubles? Now you want to start with Gays and Lesbians? You have been the most intolerant of your Gay and Lesbian Family Members. Which is why so many of them are dead. WE WILL NOT DIE FOR YOU.

  • I STILL want to know if Larry Kramer or the Queer Justice League will be in Brooklyn to protest the reggae Straight Pride march on August 31. The march will feature some of reggae's most homophobic singers. Or do they only protest in safe Manhattan like a bunch of wusses?
