  • Very Brian Wlilsony in the chorus..

  • Well, they both tried to create a "teenage symphony for god" i think.

  • Great guitar chord that comes out of nowhere at 6.27.

I wonder if Pete would play these live, trying to recreate the feel on these demos.

  • Well, on 2000 he performed a lot of Lifehouse material at Sadler's Well. He's selling a DVD at his website, and someone managed to upload some of those videos here in youtube.

  • this is against all them noobs that call baba o riley "teenage wasteland"

  • I'm so glad Pete Townshend came out with the Lifehouse Chronicles. It seemed like such an interesting concept for a rock opera

  • @DarthMurray Best Comparison EVER on YouTube, I ALWAYS compare SMiLE to Lifehouse.

  • @12toedfeet surely. this was a production by Pete, only. Baba O'Riley was based in it, then, Pete "forgot" it. So we can say this is a dead music..

  • @airomist this is against all those arrogant idiots who trot around acting like they never got a song title wrong before!

  • Are we certain that The Who never recorded this song (it IS a completely different song than "Baba O'Reilly")???

  • Damn...why Pete, why couldn't you make Lifehouse a reality. Why not now?

  • You should pick up the new book book "Won't Get Fooled Again: From Lifehouse to Quadrophenia". It goes into all the details about creation of the Lifehouse concept (and more).

  • Very interesting song but I'm glad Pete decided to record Baba O'Riley instead.

  • i love hearing alternative versions of classics like this. i especially love 'em like this, stripped down and naked. raw, pete's brain child in its earlier, purer stage of growth. my generation needs a new pete townshend. hell, the world needs the who back too. i mean '66 - '76 style who. oh what i would give to see a live show from that time!!!!!

  • Love this tune- very Elton John quality circa Madman Across the Water- Pete's drums even sound like Elton's drummer, Nigel Olsen.

  • @bwc3821 while i think this would have been waaaaaaay better than any rock opera before it, i still think that Quadrophenia stands as one of the most consistently good albums, no THE MOST CONSISTENTLY GOOD ALBUM of all time, and Tommy paved the way for the Who's sound around this time, besides being a pretty great album.
