@masterstghm My mdoc has a chart on her office wall that details how the causes of death have changed in the past century. I had an uncle who died (before I was born) from something people don't die of anymore.

@Nubsthegreat In Houston, you sometimes see ads for Chevron and Shell. Kansas City gasoline advertising plugs Phillips 66 a good bit.

You know how much the past is romanticized? It was just as shitty then as it is now (if not more shitty).

Cars back then were gas guzzlers, if you think 17mpg is bad back then you'd be happy to get 8 or even 6mpg.

Yeah I don't care to live in this generation. I would of rather lived in the 60s or 70s. At least the cars were cooler and good bands were still together.

The commercials Speedway does now (as well as parent company Marathon Oil) are better than this.

There was an even better Speedway 79 commercial which coined the phrase "A Tiger In Your Tank." One of my all time favorites!

Unfortunately, I agree with you. I am just old enough to have seen the greatest times in America, the 1950's and early 60's. But there's nothing wrong with this generation, per se, it's the change in the context that it grew up in and the circumstances created by the fact that giant corporations now run the government, not the people. Today you can only experience the American Dream when you are asleep.
