  • Not going to bother. You should search the bible because it contradicts a lot of catholic doctrine. If you won't put in the effort, go ahead and be lost in your ignorance. I don't accept catholic doctrine unless it is scriptural...a lot of it isn't. Search it yourself.

  • @rxangel65

The Catholic Church is the one true church. There is only one truth. For example, either Jesus is really present in the Blessed Sacrament or he is not. Either the pope is the Vicar of Christ, etc. or he is not. All the other churches/denominations do not agree, among themselves or with the Catholic Church, on all aspects of the Christian Faith. They cannot all be right. Our Lord started a church not churches, and the one He esatablished is the Catholic Church.

  • God bless you, I will really go for now, and in my prayers tonight, I will hope that perhaps Our Lord might bring about some good fruit here. Thank you for your time and consideration of my humble defense, of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, She who must endure persecution from all sides until the end of the world. Please do not judge Her unjustly, or judge her by a few Catholics you may have met, but rather, seek first to give Her a fair hearing. AMDG-St. Ignatius Loyola, pray for us.

  • What was the name of the Jewish person and what was the name of the Roman Catholic priest? Do you have a date, or reputable source for claiming this story that you want me to consider. In your religion, is it OK to read something on the internet and believe it to be a fact without considering the source? If you would like to know the Catholic side of history, we can, and will give a thorough analysis of the inquisitions and what they were truly about. Why so quick to believe these things?

  • Lastly, does your Hebrew text post, imply that you believe a Jewish person had some sort of access to a different version of St. Matthew that never existed? Are you saying that after about 1500 years, that whatever copy of he had proved something the world had never known? And as the Gospels are all virtually the same story written by four different authors, what does the point of your post mean? And do you have any historical references that the Catholic Church had this policy?

  • Oh wow, now you reveal too much, my friend. If you don't even know WHY we call the Catholic Church Roman, then I must assume that you have only read material from those who are Anti-Catholic. Why would you try to disprove the Catholic Church when you have not even begun to know what Catholics truly believe? Have you met Catholics who thought Jesus was Roman? It's late where I am, but as you seem to want to convert Catholics, I'll return tomorrow and reply in a civil manner, please God.

  • So, "a house divided against itself cannot stand".. for instance... I'm not trying to be clever, but let's translate this and ask 50 different people from various walks of life what it means, and some will interpret literally, and some will not, and no doubt about it, there will be those who do not know of Jesus Christ, and will read about His parables and think He was just a story teller, and have no idea that He was referring to a future Church that had not been born yet.

  • Seriously, you think it's nonsense? Or you don't have an answer? I'm not arguing, I'm trying to figure out your religion. As a Catholic, we take the scriptures according to how the Church has handed down the interpretations of them. We are free to read, and to meditate on the Word of God, but as we both know so many divisions do exist, it was always the Church who had the final say. And She has been defining and clarifying as needed for 2000 years. To be continued..

  • Do you really want to know where the hebrew text of matthew 23 was found? Okay...I'll tell you. It is in jewish antiquities. It had been traced to a jew who was forced to "battle" a roman catholic priest during the inquisitions. You know where jews were forced to argue doctrine...if they lost, they had to convert. If they won, they were killed. Kind of a no win situation. If you really want to understand the bible, you must study history. Hint-Jesus was not roman.

  • 'Seriously...that is your arguement..."explain why I am to take the bible literally?" Thats it? I give up. I won't argue such nonsense.
