May 5, 2010: First egg for the loons! The egg is brown with dark splotches. There are 2 - 4 eggs in a clutch, so we may see more. Mother is on the Nest, and Father is in the water, keeping a watchful eye.

The Common Loon is also known as Great Northern Loon and Great Northern Diver.

  • Beautiful. They look like their legs are far back, like the Great Crested Grebe, which makes them clumsy on land, but at their best in the water. Hope The Egg hatches. Phil
