So yeah, I got this nice surprise yesterday when I was working on my i7 set up. Sorry for the quality I don't have anything installed as the 1TB black caviar -did- work and I have it with a fresh install. Luckily I've been shopping at newegg for five years. I'd hate to see this happen to a first time customer as it has NEVER happened to me in the 5 years ordering from them.

If you have batch #: 3938B006 don't even bother opening it, because you will have this waiting to greet you. Just contact Newegg and they should help you. They are aware of the situation and are working on it currently. Hopefully I don't have to go through a real RMA process BS for this and I can get my i7 before next weekend.

  • Turns out it was actually a 6GHz i9 990x prototype, with intergrated quad SLI 995gtx. 25Watt at full load as well.

    u mad?

  • You accidentally ordered the i7 model kit. Contains 1 x plastic cpu 1 x Post-It notes and 1 x heart sink.

  • chinese counterfit?

I doubt this is something Intel Owns atleast they would not have misspelled their own product's informations, go in look and read the information on the side of the box, bad spelling all over it.
