It's an infra red scope. The first ones have been developed by German engineers in WWII. It was called ZF 1229 "Vampir". In the movie there is obviously an American model.

  • I didnt know that they had thermal scopes in WWII

  • @pennjd1 very keen eye there !!! your true to some extent he is wearing a M1916 stahlhelm but keep in mind many of the SS soldiers were issued these helmets. Now the challenge lies in finding the runes on his tunic to verify what i said

  • @Freeegad

He was not only a good sniper, but also a good sub-machine gunner. He killed 200-300+ enemies with a machine gun that HE SALVAGED FROM THE ENEMIES.

  • @Freeegad But he did not died

  • @jorgos134 Simo Häyhä - 505 confirmed sniper kills. It was like a slaughterhouse local guy in white camo on the white snow ... it`s not a perfectly trained killer, IT IS GOOD RIFLEMAN.

Please answer - how many snipers he deactivated?

    Based on his own words:

My best tactic - white snow and worm underwear... and a great piece of luck of course...

Finally he got head-shot from normal infantryman...

  • @S2kloveyou No, Dear , VASILY ZAYTSEV (Василий Зайцев) ! Check orfography at wiki. You can see his photo at 5:17, face of real hero and patriot of my motherland.

  • @Freeegad vasilli zeitzev?

  • Simo Häyhä( Russians called him at WW2 White death no doubt

  • Russian sharpshooter Vasily Zaytsev FOREVER !

  • The ones who took advantages of the use of snipers were Germans, Soviets, Finns, Canadians and Japaneses; Americans, despite having on service many snipers on the USMCS, had to wait until the war would be finished, to developed a handbook for snipers on following conflicts.

  • At 1:00 and 1:01 the german snipers shown are from the tail end of WWI not WWII. You can tell by the Stahlhelm they are wearing being of a model used in WWI and discontinued well before the NAZIs coming to power. The give away is the "Frankenstein" lugs that were used for mounting an additional steel plate to the front of the helmet for snipers and assault troops in the trenches. After WWI they discontinued the practice of the steel plate and following Stahlhelm models didn't have the lugs.
