Mona's Endgame 4 GL April 1983

Part Four of Four

The end is nigh for Guiding Light, a show that I was weened on but which has taken quite a nosedive over the last decade or so. In tribute to its halcyon days, I wanted to post this. This was the climactic sequence of my all-time favourite storyline from GL, featuring my all-time favourite soap character, Quinton R McCord. Quinton was created by the brilliant head writer Douglas Marland ,and portrayed by the criminally underappreciated Michael Tylo.

This clip also features Kathleen Cullen as Amanda Spaulding, Mark Pinter as Mark Evans/ Samuel Pasquin (real surname Townshend and we never did learn his real first name), and the long-lost Leslie O'Hara as the mad Gothic villainess Mona Enright, aka Rebecca Cartright.

Top-notch direction, lighting, camera, acting and writing as two years worth of story begun by Marland unravel as the fated nemeses Mark and Quinton (real name: Sean Ryan) finally meet - at gunpoint. I've trimmed all the cutaways to the Reardons and Spauldings just to showcase these great scenes.

Unfortunately the final death scene of two of these characters has proven impossible for me to get ahold of.

End the end mark tells amanda that he really loved her. I remember that, and how mark died in her arms. He lived just long enough to tell her how he cared deeply for her.

Great video! The QuintNola channel has the complete story with Mark and Rebecca/Mona falling off the cliff. Quinton is also my favorite character along with Nola of all time
