Here is footage of our Sensei Shihan Fujiwara http://kyokushin-kan-karate-usa.com/ fighting in the 2nd World Kyokushin Karate Tournament in Japan 1979, and in Mas Oyama's first North American World Kyokushin Championship in Fairfield, CT 1981. He was a student of Mas Oyama and S. Oyama and we were uchi deschi to Shihan Fujiwara in 1990's. OSU

its such a shame, its like the organizations don't relize or don't care how much we've fallen. back in the day Kyokushin was the most feared stand up art in the world, surpassing even Muay Thai. now there aren't many things that Kyokushin has over Muay Thai. we really need to all go back to are roots, and bring some respect back to this Fighting style of ours. this is not the fighting style that Sosai Oyama envisioned. being the Strongest Karate isn't enough. we have to be the smartest too.

Actually Shihan Fujiwara told us that we developed part of Kyokushin FROM Muay Thai. When Sosai Mas Oyama sent his Karateka to fight them, they got destroyed, WHY? Kyokushin didn't have the gedan mawashi geri (low leg kicks) so we developed alot from Musay Thai (among other styles) after all, KyokushinKai IS a bunch of different styles including Okinawan and Shotokan, add some Brazilian grappling and you have an ultimate fighter (I believe) After living as an Uchi Dechi to Shihan Fujiwara, OSU

My Sensei was taught by Sensi Fujiwara, he trains us to fight like this, with form and technique, not just flailing wildly around untill the other guy falls.

You have to remember tahat this movie had been done long time ago. Now european kyokushin is on much better level than it's shown on this movie. Now kyokushin kan is the organisation whitch try to put back the Oyama's style of fighting with full contact and head punching. I hope thal it'll develope. OSU!!!

I currently study under Shihan Fujiwara in Cromwell,Ct.,and contrary to what I am reading,Shihan is all about perfection of form.At white belt,Shihan stood in front of me and corrected my mistakes by example and by physically placing me where I should be.Shihan sweats with us,teaches by participation,and I feel is infinitely patient with our lower ranks.As uchi dechi to Mas Oyama,I have to believe Shihan's approach is very pure,and it is an honor to be trained by him.Thank you Shihan Fujiwara.

Not only that, punching to the face will make the mat a bloody mess. The original (Mas) Oyama Dojo had full contact including blows to the face. Every time Mas Oyama had one of his fighting marathons, most of his students would have to visit the hospital because of blows to the face. In addition, with today's knowledge of blood borne pathogens, people are more leery of bloody messes. I hope Kyokushinkan can find a way to use face strikes because in a real fight there will be. OSU!
