  • My dad wasnt the type to pull over... but me and my brothers are the type that are capable of asking for directions...

  • might i add

its not about getting there its about fun finding out how to get there

just like its not about the wedding to men its about the marriage!!!

  • men dont ask 4 much help compared to women on average. not welfare, child support, spousal support, nowadays not even for cooking/cleaning. we feel we should only ask a question AFTER we have given it the best attempt we could at answering. men are less likely to quit the first minute we run into trouble which is why we serve divorce papers less often.

also people can sometimes send you in the wrong direction anyway!

  • I agree with Geezerbill, women do seem quick to give up or rely on others. As for myself, I don't have a problem asking for directions when in the company of a young lady unless I feel that she has a belittling attitude similar to the character Roseanne Barr in the popular television sitcom. Even the whole men never ask for directions has a very typical belittling tone to it.

  • geezer has a pretty valid point, men would try to find their way on their own first. However, I also think that man is more likely to ask for directions if he is alone rather than with a woman. I think that it is instinct to show a woman that you know what you want in life and where your going, that you arent lost. sure, not knowing where the bowling alley is is petty and doesnt reflect a mans sense of direction in life, but i think mans behavior and instinct falls into this petty situation.

  • The question isn't "Why don't men ask for directions?" but rather "Why do women immediately resort to bugging strangers and depending on them for help?" Or perhaps "Why do woman not have the patience to read a map?" Most men feel that to ask for help is to admit defeat. It's like looking at the crossword puzzle answers first. I have no problem asking for directions, but only AFTER I've at least TRIED taking a look at the maps I keep in my glove compartment.
