Thanks for those comments on a guy that has recently died. I don't share your opinion and I've always seen boxing as a sport for the masses. Reg was an everyday guy and the last thing I'd do is call him boring.

RIP...Reg Gutteridge, the man was like a favourite uncle. I have such happy memories of him and his commentary over the years in this brilliant sport.

when you've won the world heavyweight title, we'll listen to your claim that Bruno was no boxer.
-
He was too upright, lumbering and static, that's why he was caught here. His stamina was also suspect, but he was a trier and lovable moron.
-
Frank was a limited fighter but he did England proud! I don't think he had a glass jaw like many people claim. Was he a great boxer? absolutely not, but he was no pushover either. He definitely lacked the killer instinct, i think the man was too nice. Compared to a Tyson who wanted to "eat" Lennox children. Tyson was messed in the head, Bruno was a true gentleman. Bruno is a true British hero!

@578Leo Bit harsh of a comment, but i can see where your coming from, give the guy a bit of credit though, he was a tough SOB
-
Bruno was not a bum,
he just lacked stamina because of all those muscles he had,
but he gave everybody a tough fight,
Tyson was the only one to beat him easy in there rematch
-
Frank was no boxer he was too bulky and stood too tall and staight the only way he was popular is because the British public back losers, on One of the rounds Witherspoon catches Bruno with a soft body shot and the crowd rise, when he fought Joe Bugner he had a bus pass and Chuck Gardner in Cannes who didn't have a license to box he got stopped in the 1st with a soft jab, Witherspoon was no great fighter but was a good journey man who had been around for a long tim & had fought good fighters
It's the 25th anniversary on the 19th july and Tim willn be marking the night @ The saucy kettle in surbiton England.
