I just completely rebuilt this 1996 Team Yamaha race hul Yamaha Waveraider with a Riva ported motor. Everything on it has either been replaced or made better. It is an Old School Hot Rod on the water. And in case you are wondering, it is a two-stroke motor and that is sweet 110 race fuel with Maxima oil burning out the exhaust.

  • Where did you get the black grip rubber around the hull? I have a 96 waveraider 700 and want to repaint it a custom color. If you have any other Ideas, I'll send you my email and phone. Thanks man.

  • @gtoguy71 I made them from Hydroturf Mat from Blowsion.com. Kind of a pain to do, but looks great when done.

  • What did you coat the rub rails in? How does it hold up?

  • @FormulaMatt It is Hydroturf Mat. It is what the freestyle guys do to there skis. It seems to be doing pretty good, but would not recommend it if you let yourn ski rub up against anything for a period of time.

  • @jetskisrule111 dang well someone needs to find the plans on how to build it

  • @offroadingfreack97

There were only 50 made. All but a hand full are gone, some of them probably overseas. I don't know of another one that is currently on the water, running, at this point in time. I call it my HotRod on the water.

  • @jetskisrule111 dang so its a 1 of a kinds i guess

The bottom hull is completely aftermarket and was develped by Team Yamaha in the mid 90's. It runs a GP1200 water box and the exhaust outlet is a custom Riva Racing piece.

  • @jetskisrule111 i dont get how the exhaust is out the back like that

I buddy of mine built this ski originally back in 1997 and always babied it. He blew the motor up a couple years ago and called me up last year and asked if I wanted it. He cut me a good deal. I completely gutted it and replaced just about everything. I rebuilt the motor with brand new crank, piston, carbon reeds, and Riva ported cylinder that I got from a guy up north.
