This classical Javanese dance comes from the court of Yogyakarta. It depicts a young woman's desire to always look her best. The dancers seen here belongs to the Yayasan Siswa Among Beksa which was created by the brother of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX in 1952. The dance foundation's goal is to preserve and develop the classical court dance of Yogyakarta and the Mataram style.

  • @haffira The Javanese are known to be refined. The Bugis are known to be brave. That's a great combination!

  • @gunjakarta aaah i see i see thank you.

  • @lilcraziaznkid Hi... vice versa, I admire Cambodian art and culture too.

The difference is in the beat of gamelan music and the movement. Javanese court dance is more slow, serene, graceful and controlled; while Balinese dance is more energetic, vivid, and vigorous yet also graceful. Among our neighbours, Cambodian dance have the very same refinement and grace quality with Javanese dance. The movements and hand gesture is quite similar, but the music is rather different.
