@dolcissimo On the commentary for the episode in season 3.5 where Henry's ship that comes back with Kim in it. They said the plan was Jack helps Allison with the mourning for Nathan. They get closer and they were gonna start to get romantic. Then Tess comes to town and Henry's ship comes back but it was gonna be Kevin's father on the ship. It was gonna be the real him. He was lost on the mission not dead as everyone thought. So Allison is torn between him coming back and Carter.

Yeah, it makes me wonder where the producers would have steered the storyline if Salli hadn't got pregnant, but on a positive note, Jack and Allison get to explore a different aspect of their relationship now. Salli and Colin said in an IGN interview that you see a different kind of "emotional tension" in their scenes now, and "in a sense, it's a truer form of love."
Jack and Allison are totally meant to be, though. I guess we just have to wait a little longer! ;)
