Too bad for the fourth box. RUMBLE and NEGOTIATE are stinkers.

I guess ACROSS is a propositional phrase?

Does anyone have the following episode of Pyramid:
January 26, 1987 (#281; 1st round) with Lauri Hendler?
Thanks,

The Road Across Texas. They say "Overly Descriptive" was the reason; I personally would not have known that subject with that clue. Usually they can go through the rest fast after an illegal clue but concentration was lost there and we could see it. Hey, were good sports about it even though we are secretly frustrated that David Graf's slip of the tonger cost her $25,000. Betty would have probably would have run from the set if she was ever buzzed.

"The Road Across Texas?" Yikes! I'd say that illegal clue really broke their concentration.
I loved how betty chimed in at the end with the perfect clue

Yep, there was no doubt "The Road ACROSS Texas" was a big no-no. Hey...on that box how about "winding road" (as in "long and winding road"), Rapunzel's hair...
