The New Hartford Marching Band won the 2003 New York State Field Band Conference Championships for their SS1 division. The 2003 program, entitled Tango Variations, used violin and accordion solo pieces to give the show a traditional tango feel. New Hartford used several visual elements throughout the program, such as a checkered dance floor, recurring diamond formations, and dance-like foot and body movements... all of which helped bring the music to life.

The program consisted of 3 different songs, each of which has a different style of tango:

1. Por Una Cabeza
2. Red Cape Tango
3. Tango de Roxanne

  • This was my favorite year.

  • hahha nice Marybeth

  • I just joined the New Hartford Marching Spartans this year, but I loooovvee watching all the older performances! This year's theme was 'Desert Voices.'

  • I'm in the New Hartford Marching band. I only joined in 2008, but I hear people talk about this show all the time! I'm glad I got to see it. 8D

  • Yay Tango!!!!!! The best year ever! Too bad I can't remember the tango :o/

  • I'm competing against New Hartford this weekend, so I thought I'd check out what they've done in the past. In 2003, I think my school was only in SS2, but after winning first in SS2, we were moved to SS1, and won two consecutive first places there.

New Hartford and Norwich are both playing one of the same tunes (Baccanale), so you can imagine how hard we're working on that.

  • sick i just joined marching band i'm excited!

  • this was my first year and it was awesome that we won

  • this is what the marching band looked like in 2003, i have joined this marching band in 2008, the theme was "winter solstice"

  • Excellent performance and story. I like especially the percussion break in Red Cape Tango section because it reminds me a lot of my high school's show this past year which was based off of Red Cape Tango also. I played center snare and I enjoyed Red Cap Tango.
